Most of the walls are in pretty rough shape: peeling, crumbling from pet urine and full of holes.
The amount of time it will take to prep the walls for painting is too great at this point.
Our time is going to be very limited. Our help is going to be very limited.
The other factor is mold.
So after much discussion, we have decided to tear down all the walls and hire a professional to hang new sheetrock, mud and make the walls paint-ready.
Yes it's going to cost us more. But this means we can move in sooner, eliminating the cost of rent and having to pay two utility bills.
It's a HUGE relief.
And ripping and busting down all those nasty, horribly colored walls is oddly.....
Our neighbor (a.k.a my dad) came to help.
I suppose it's the least he could do after he ran over our mail box. :)
|The neighbors' dogs joined us too|
This way we will also have peace of mind. Whereas before, we would have never known just how much mold was hiding behind the walls, affecting our health.
We will also be ripping out the cabinets and re-designing the layout of the kitchen.
At this rate, we may actually be moved in by summer.
|We're going for a more open floor plan, ha|
Oh hey, it's St. Paddy's Day.
I guess I should include some pictures with green. Let me take a quick walk around the yard...
The Toothwort has finally opened!
Virginia Bluebells will be blooming in a week or two.
The wild blackberries are leafing out.
The buns are enjoying some green too...
I hope you are enjoying some green, wherever you are!
